CASE STUDY 01 · HONORS THESIS · UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA · 2026
AI-Assisted Game Development
01 / THE PROJECT
What I built, and how.
OVERVIEW
My University of Florida honors thesis explored AI-assisted game development. The showcase video presents The Sunken Sanctum, a top-down puzzle-exploration game in which a hooded spirit carries a lantern through candlelit chambers, lighting pillars and solving stepping-stone puzzles to unseal the way forward.
Titled AI Across the Game Development Pipeline, the independent research project looked at how generative AI can be used at each stage of making a game, and where it falls short.
MY ROLE
Researcher, game designer and developer. This was an independent research project, so I handled the research, the game design and the development.
TOOLS USED
[EDIT: engine or framework, AI tools, languages. The showcase window is titled "Sanctum · HTML" — confirm the tech stack.]
PROCESS
I researched generative AI applications throughout game development, then built a playable game using AI-assisted workflows, exploring AI-assisted programming, design and creative production along the way. [EDIT: what was generated vs. built by hand.]
CHALLENGES
Judging where AI tools genuinely help. A core part of the thesis was evaluating the strengths and limitations of AI development tools. [EDIT: one specific example.]
FINAL RESULT
Gameplay from the first chamber, "I · The Antechamber", is shown in the showcase above. [EDIT: link to the written thesis and any honors outcome.]
